🏗️ Construction 3D Printing Material Selection

Image
Construction 3D printing (C3DP) is emerging as a promising technology for low-rise residential construction, offering potential benefits in speed, customization, and labor efficiency. With a variety of materials now developed to meet the strength requirements for structural walls, understanding the broader impacts of these materials is critical. While the technology has been widely explored for its technical feasibility, there remains limited knowledge regarding its economic and environmental implications. This research aims to evaluate the cost, carbon footprint, and embodied energy of commonly used 3D printing materials in comparison with traditional wood-framed wall assemblies. By exploring these aspects, the study seeks to inform more sustainable and cost-effective adoption of C3DP in residential construction.
